Before you call

What is your system doing?

A few problems have a quick fix you can check yourself. Pick a symptom to see what to try, and when to stop and call.

Rough sizing

How big an AC does my house need?

2,000 sq ft
3.5tons, give or take

A ballpark for a North Texas home, not a quote. Before we install, we size the system properly for your house, windows and ductwork. An oversized unit short-cycles and leaves the house clammy.

Common questions

Good to know

How often should I change my air filter?

Standard 1-inch filters: about every 1 to 3 months. Change them monthly during summer, or if you have pets. A clogged filter is one of the most common reasons an AC freezes up.

Should I repair or replace my AC?

If the system is under about 10 years old, repair usually makes sense. If it is 12 to 15 years or older, uses R-22 refrigerant, or needs a major part like a compressor, replacing it is often the better buy. We will give you both options.

What temperature split is normal?

Air coming out of the vents should be roughly 15 to 20°F cooler than the air going into the return. Much less than that usually means low refrigerant, a dirty coil or an airflow problem.

What is SEER2?

SEER2 is the current efficiency rating for air conditioners and heat pumps. A higher number means lower electric bills for the same cooling. We can walk you through how different ratings compare for your home.

Why is water leaking near my indoor unit?

Usually a clogged condensate drain line or a full drain pan. Turn the system off to limit water damage and give us a call.
